Scientific Advisory Board

The Scientific Advisory Board of the MPIfG advises the directors on the planning and development of new research areas and regularly evaluates the Institute's research for the president of the Max Planck Society, whom it also advises on the Institute's development. The members of the Scientific Advisory Board are international scholars from fields related to the Institute's research.

The regular, three-yearly Institute evaluation by its Scientific Advisory Board is expanded every six years to include several Max Planck institutes working in related fields. The institutes are grouped into research fields and compared with each other and with other research institutions in Germany and abroad working in related fields. The comparison looks at research performance and output, as well as the funds invested to achieve them.
