Fritz W. Scharpf to Receive DVPW Lifetime Achievement Award
Fritz W. Scharpf, emeritus director at the MPIfG, is to receive the first ever lifetime achievement award to be conferred by the German Political Science Association (DVPW). The award will be presented on September 26 during this year’s DVPW congress at the University of Göttingen. Fritz W. Scharpf, who has been a member of the association since 1968, has shaped political science with his groundbreaking work over the past six decades and influenced associated disciplines such as sociology and economics. As a director of the WZB Berlin Social Science Center and the MPIfG, Scharpf has encouraged and supported the transfer of knowledge into practice throughout his career. The DVPW’s lifetime achievement award was created in 2022 and will be conferred for the first time this year and every three years thereafter. It honors outstanding scholars who have been instrumental in developing the discipline and connecting the scientific community.
