New Doctoral Students at the IMPRS

Several new doctoral students are joining the International Max Planck Research School on the Social and Political Constitution of the Economy (IMPRS-SPCE) in the winter semester. Lea Remmers will begin her project “The Game of Art and Power – Understanding the Role of Private Art Collections in the Strategies of the Super-Wealthy to (Re)produce their Position in the Field of Power,” which is part of Jens Beckert’s “Wealth and Social Inequality” Research Focus. In a new research field on climate change, also headed by Jens Beckert, Angelo Giorgio Cuconato will begin his project “Unveiling Violence: A New Power Source in the Transition to a Low-Carbon Economy.” Jonas Horn will meanwhile work on “Digitalization and Capitalist Diversity,” and Ka Chun (Ray) Yung on a “Comparative Analysis of Economic Development in Hong Kong and Taiwan”; Horn and Yung are both supervised by Christine Trampusch, Professor of International Comparative Political Economy and Economic Sociology at the University of Cologne. The IMPRS-SPCE is an international doctoral program jointly organized by the MPIfG, the University of Cologne, and the University of Duisburg-Essen and currently hosts 27 doctoral researchers.
