Second Research Network in Political Economy Workshop

June 11, 2024

The Research Network in Political Economy met at the beginning of May for its second workshop. Twenty researchers from Germany and the rest of Europe came to the MPIfG to present and discuss current political economy research. The broad range of topics on the agenda covered the politics of the knowledge economy, green industrial policy, populist parties, and the impact of international conflicts on the welfare state. There was also intensive discussion on methodology, including the pros and cons of online survey experiments. The workshop was the second to be held by the Research Network, which was initiated by Lucio Baccaro and Marius R. Busemeyer (University of Konstanz) to help institutionalize political economy as an academic field and encourage academic exchange in Germany and Europe.
