Daniel Mertens Joins Executive Board of MPIfG Alumni Association

The general meeting of the Society of Friends and Former Associates of the MPIfG elected Daniel Mertens to its executive board in December 2023. Mertens has been Professor of International Political Economy at the Institute of Social Sciences, Osnabrück University, since 2019. He was previously a senior researcher in International Relations and International Political Economy at Goethe University Frankfurt. Mertens has been associated with the MPIfG since his time as a senior researcher and scholarship holder from 2009 to 2014. Founded in 2002, the MPIfG’s alumni association promotes the exchange of ideas between its members and provides opportunities for them to stay in touch with each other and the Institute. Daniel Mertens joins fellow board members Birgit Apitzsch (Ruhr University Bochum), Simone Leiber (University of Duisburg-Essen), Sascha Münnich (European University Viadrina), and Susanne K. Schmidt (University of Bremen).
